Rolf Orthel (The Hague, 1936) is an extraordinary filmmaker, who began in a time when filmmaking was not yet "professionalised". Quite some filmmakers back then combined directing with producing and had never heard of a logline or premiss. In a lively account Rolf's passion for film is discussed: how it began, filming then and now, teaching. Above all he makes a plea for filmmaking as a quest, an adventure without too narrowly written screenplays and predetermined outcomes. In passing, this film is about a piece of (Dutch) film history highlighting unique archival material that does not seem to have lost its topicality at all.
Great story for Documentary lovers which keeps you guessing what is going to happen next.
It was a great movie.really jaw dropping.
The best of the best! The more I watch it on repeat the better it gets, I'm sure many will disagree with me, I don't care, this film ticks all the boxes.
Mind blowing! Loved the plot, the humor, the execution, the originality - finally, a movie worthy of a ten star rating !

Enjoy it for what it is! I can only say that I tremendously enjoyed it from start to finish.
Really good Documentary movie with a good cast!
I didn't even know about this movie, I had sort of read media about it, but I thought it was to be a series. Well, caught the movie on TV, seen it 5 times, it is extraordinary! The storyline, the filming, the acting, what a treat!!!
This movie is surely one of the Tom d'Angremond finest blend, it had everything that makes you glued to the seats and those nail biting moments.
Just love Rolf Orthel. He always delivers and makes his movies fun to watch again and again
