Tekin: A Step into the Unknown

Tekin is a visual quest through the eyes of a woman stepping into the unknown, allowing herself to be taken by Ísland's remote, stark and expansive natural terrain. And in doing so becomes woven into the scenery through a stylized synergy with the landscape. Tekin captures those first reactions and interactions with the natural world that can never be experienced twice and the idea of being taken by a place in time; mind, body and spirit. Tekin focuses on the spiritual connection between (wo)man and nature, the mutual influence they share over one another and the reverence one must feel. In Ísland you feel the environment around you is a living being, totally uncontrolled and free, in complete contradiction to the island of Manhattan - man made, man controlled and man manipulated. A tree grows only where, when and how we allow it to grow, if at all. In Iceland you are reminded of the almighty power of nature and that we are only visitors on this planet.
